Used trucks in Daphne, for work, towing and weekends.

Job sites in the week, the boat or the camper on Saturday, a hunting lease in the fall. A good used pickup does all of it. Here is what to look for, and how to see the trucks we have now.

A truck is a tool first.

The right used truck depends less on the badge and more on the job you need it to do.

If you tow a bass boat or a utility trailer, a half-ton like an F-150, Silverado, Ram 1500 or Tundra covers it. If you pull a big fifth-wheel or haul heavy loads every day, you are likely shopping heavy-duty, and the details matter more.

Write down your heaviest load, how many people ride with you, and whether you need four-wheel drive. That short list does more to find the right truck than any brochure.

Cab, bed and drivetrain.

The same model comes in a lot of shapes. Here is how the main choices usually play out.

Cab size

A crew cab has four full doors and a back seat adults can live with, which is why most family trucks are crew cabs. Regular and extended cabs give up rear room for a longer bed or a lower price.

Bed length

Short beds park easier and fit more garages. A longer bed matters if you haul plywood, dirt bikes or a camper shell. Measure what you carry before you decide.

Two- or four-wheel drive

Four-wheel drive helps on sand, mud, wet grass and boat ramps. Two-wheel drive is simpler and often lighter on fuel. On a used truck, test four-wheel drive engages cleanly.

Reading a used truck’s past life.

Trucks work hard, and a little detective work tells you how hard.

  • A worn hitch receiver, a brake controller or a fifth-wheel plate means regular towing. Ask what it pulled.
  • A spray-in bed liner can hide dents, so look under the truck and along the bed rails too.
  • Check the frame and brake lines for rust, especially on trucks that have launched boats in salt water.
  • Lift kits and big tires change how a truck rides, brakes and wears. Factory height is easier to live with.
  • The AutoCheck report on each of our listings can show fleet or commercial use and the number of owners.
  • The sticker on the driver’s door jamb lists payload capacity. Compare it to what you plan to carry.

Trucks come and go quickly, so we do not list them here. The live inventory is the real list, with photos, the free AutoCheck report and a payment calculator on every one.

Truck buyers, in their words.

Word for word, from Google and Facebook.

I just bought my dream truck from Sport Center Imports ! It was the best deal by THOUSANDS anywhere around, and the customer service and ease of doing business was like nothing I have ever experienced before. These folk have my business from now on, and I will be telling all of my friends and family to see Ben for their next vehicle. They also offer a custom buying service where, if they don't have what you are looking for, they will go find it, and buy it for you. That would be a huge time saver for me instead of running all over the Gulf Coast looking at vehicles. I would recommend Sport Center Imports to anyone looking to buy a used vehicle. *****

Used truck questions.

Do you have a certain truck in stock?

Check the live inventory, since trucks move quickly. If it is not there, our vehicle locator service will look for it for you.

Is a half-ton truck enough for my boat?

Many bay and bass boats sit comfortably within a half-ton truck’s towing rating, but check two numbers: the truck’s tow rating for its exact engine and axle, and the loaded weight of your boat and trailer. The owner’s manual and the door-jamb sticker are the places to start.

What mileage is too high for a used truck?

There is no single cutoff. A well-kept truck with highway miles can outlast a low-mile truck that towed hard and skipped oil changes. Service records, the history report and a careful test drive tell you more than the odometer alone.

Will you buy my truck even if I don’t buy one from you?

Yes. We will buy your vehicle outright, or you can use it as trade-in credit. Start on our trade-in page.

Can I test drive a truck with my trailer?

Call us first and we will talk it through. We work by appointment, so a call to 251-625-2131 is the best way to set up any test drive.

Ready to find your truck?

Look through the live inventory, or call and tell us what you tow and haul. If we don’t have it, we will find it.
