Why buy luxury used?
Luxury vehicles tend to lose value fastest in their first few years. Buying used lets someone else take that hit.
The trade-off is that there is more to check. Premium vehicles carry more technology, more expensive parts and, on some models, systems like air suspension that cost real money to fix. A well-kept one is a pleasure. A neglected one can be a money pit.

Three kinds of special.
Each one rewards a different kind of homework.
Luxury SUVs
Escalade, X5, Wagoneer. Test every screen, camera, power seat and liftgate. Ask about tire size and type, since some BMWs ride on run-flats, and listen for suspension noise over bumps.
Sports cars
Corvette and its kind. Look at tire wear, brake condition and any aftermarket parts. Clues like worn bolsters or race-style brake pads can point to hard driving. Get an insurance quote before you fall in love.
Off-road and toys
Bronco, Wrangler, Land Cruiser. Look underneath for scrapes on skid plates and rock rails, and ask about lifts and other modifications. Check removable tops and doors seal well in a rainstorm.
Trailers and boats, at times.
Every so often our lot holds something without a steering wheel: a travel trailer or a boat. They need their own kind of look.
Travel trailers
- Press on the floor near doors, the bathroom and slide-outs for soft spots
- Look at the ceiling and corners for water stains
- Check tire date codes; trailer tires age out before they wear out
- Run the slides, awning, water heater and A/C
Boats
- Ask for engine hours and service history
- Look at the hull and transom for cracks or soft spots
- Check the trailer too: bearings, lights, bunks and tires
- Have a marine mechanic look it over if you are unsure

I highly recommend purchasing from Fred and Ben. We bought a 2018 Escalade from them. Fred was not high pressure and allowed my wife and I all the time needed to complete our inspection and test drive. When I asked if he needed to accompany us on the test drive, he jokingly responded, “My mom told me not to ride with strangers,” and insisted we go without him. During our test drive, I noticed a few miscellaneous interior pieces were missing and brought it up to Fred. He informed me to purchase the items and he would refund me for them. Ben and I were able to negotiate a reasonable amount on my trade-in and the purchasing process was quick and easy. Upon getting more familiar with the vehicle, I discovered the windshield wipers were at the end of their lifespan and the vehicle was due for an oil change only a few hundred miles after purchase. Are used luxury cars expensive to maintain?
Usually more than a mainstream car: parts, tires and some repairs cost more, and some systems are complex. Service records and a careful inspection matter more here than anywhere.
Do you always have boats and travel trailers?
No. We have them at times, alongside our cars, trucks, SUVs and minivans. Check the live inventory or call to ask.
Can you find a specific sports car or luxury model?
Yes. Our vehicle locator service exists for exactly that. Tell us the model, year range, color and features, and we will look for it.
Can I bring my own mechanic?
Call us to set a time. Several of our reviewers mention having their own mechanic check a vehicle before buying.
