Car payment calculator.

Put in a price, your down payment, a trade-in value, a rate and a term, and see an estimated monthly payment. It all runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Estimate your monthly payment.

Change any number and the estimate updates. Try a few versions: a bigger down payment, a shorter term, a different rate.

Estimated monthly payment

$0

An estimate only, before tax, title and fees. Your actual rate depends on your credit and the lender.

How the estimate works.

The calculator starts with the amount you would actually borrow, then spreads it over the term with interest, the same way a standard car loan is figured.

First it works out the principal: the vehicle price, minus your down payment, minus your trade-in value. Then it applies the interest rate (APR) month by month. Each payment covers that month’s interest first, and the rest pays down the balance. Early payments lean toward interest; later ones mostly pay down the loan.

The result is a fixed monthly payment that brings the balance to zero at the end of the term.

  • Vehicle price. The price of the car, truck or SUV you are looking at.
  • Down payment. Cash you put in up front. It lowers the amount you borrow.
  • Trade-in value. What your current vehicle is worth toward the purchase. It works like extra down payment.
  • Interest rate (APR). The yearly cost of borrowing. Your real rate depends on your credit and the lender.
  • Term. How many months you take to pay it back, from 36 to 84.

What moves the number.

Here is a simple example: $20,000 borrowed at 7.9% APR. These are example numbers only, not a quote.

A longer term

Over 60 months the payment is about $405. Stretch it to 72 months and it drops to about $350, but you pay roughly $903 more in interest overall.

A lower rate

The rate matters on every single payment. Even a point or two lower can save real money over a loan, which is why it pays to apply and see what you actually qualify for.

More down, or a trade

Every dollar of down payment or trade-in value is a dollar you do not borrow or pay interest on. It lowers the payment and the total cost.

A few tips before you apply.

  • The estimate is before tax, title and fees, so leave some room in your budget.
  • Think about the whole monthly cost: payment, insurance, fuel and upkeep.
  • If you still owe on your trade, the payoff comes out of its value. Owing more than it is worth adds to what you borrow.
  • A shorter term usually costs less overall, if the payment still fits comfortably.
  • Have your income, employer and address details handy. The application asks for them.
  • Not sure what rate to use? Try a few. Your actual rate depends on your credit and the lender.

Calculator questions.

Is this the payment I will get?

It is an estimate. Your actual payment depends on the final price, tax, title and fees, and the rate you are approved for, which depends on your credit and the lender.

Does using the calculator affect my credit?

No. The calculator runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent to us or anyone else.

What interest rate should I put in?

If you do not know yet, try a few rates to see the range. Once you apply, we can talk through the real options with you.

Should I include my trade-in?

Yes, if you plan to trade. Put in what you expect it to be worth, minus anything you still owe on it. For a real number, use our trade-in page.
